About

The Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys (ATAA) is a membership organization that is exclusively dedicated to helping plaintiff lawyers and paralegals get the skills and expertise needed to better handle truck crash cases. Board-Certified members of ATAA are committed to providing training and education to assist other attorneys as well as taking the necessary steps to ensure the trucking agency is taking the right initiatives to prioritize the safety of all motorists. Our members make themselves available to speak at educational programs around the country and also on a one-on-one basis with members who need help on particular cases.

ATAA is honored to be partnered with the Institute for Safer Trucking (IST). Through this partnership, we have been on the forefront of creating and implementing new safety initiatives and measures that have made a real and actual difference in lowering the number of truck crashes that occur and the seriousness of the crashes that do occur.

ATAA is not against the trucking industry at all, but we are against dangerous practices that needlessly endanger people on our highways. To that end, ATAA seeks to make a difference in our nation’s highway safety by fighting unsafe practices that lead to truck crashes and cause unnecessary harm.

To achieve membership as a Board-Certified ATAA member, a lawyer is carefully and thoroughly vetted through a detailed process in which real-world experience and results handling truck crash cases are verified, along with the attorney’s skills and knowledge. Unlike other organizations, designations cannot be purchased for any sum of money and no attorneys receive favored treatment. ATAA seeks to separate great lawyers from those who only appear great due to marketing endeavors.

I’ve been a member of ATAA since the beginning and attended the first conference in 2016. It is one of the best professional organizations I’ve participated in during my career. Second, I want to thank leadership for consistently sharing your knowledge to inspire us to think and practice in new ways. I settled a case this year that I took on shortly after the first ATAA symposium. I owe a debt of gratitude for people whose presentations helped me approach this case in ways I hadn’t before – all of which helped make sure that this family was ultimately treated with the kind of dignity and respect that they deserved.

I recently handled a trucking case with a newly practicing attorney. Several other attorneys had turned down the case, in which our client rear-ended a tractor trailer at a high rate of speed. Liability was very difficult. We obtained a very favorable settlement on this case, which would have not been possible without the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys (ATAA).
